Convincing a landlord to pay back deposit

By Walter White

How to convince the landlord to pay back the full deposit.

Since 2008 the world has been in a recession and people have been struggling to buy and own a home. This is the reason why a lot of folks have been living in the property of another person or in other words rent a place. In most cases landlords would want a deposit in front, before they let you in the apartment. In a different number of scenarios you'd leave this place at one point, and at this point you'll want to get your money back. Most landlords are not that easy to get money from, and this is why I've written down a couple of things to do, to get them to pay you back.

There are many cases in which you won't have to do anything special to get your money back. The people that you are renting the place from shouldn't really be that hard to get money from. They probably have other income streams and they wouldn't go out of their way just to keep your deposit.Depending on the landlord you could even get the deposit back without even showing him/her how the apartment looks.

The following advices are not suitable for everyone. If you are a terrible tenant you wouldn't get any of them done and even reading this article is pointless. In case you are not willing to put even a little effort it's unnecessary to even read the rest of this article. In case you are a decent person anyway, the rest of this text could help you reason with your landlord.

Nothing should be broken

Having the apartment in it's original condition should really be something that comes to mind by itself when you think about leaving it and getting your deposit back.Still a lot of people overlook this and they invite the landlord in even if they have cracked walls and stuff like that. This is obviously something that would make them not give you the full deposit back. The best case scenario is having a landlord that doesn't really care about the place as long as it's still standing, but in case you don't have one like that you might want to consider keeping everything in one piece and standing as it was before you moved in.

Clean the apartment before you move out

When it comes to showing your landlord that you are a good tenant and you want to part ways in a good way, nothing even comes close to having the place cleaned.A clean and tidy apartment will improve the way that the landlord will look at you before you part ways. Not all people know how to clean and in some cases it could be a good idea to consider having a professional to do the work for you. There's just an amazing number of cleaning companies that would do the work for you for for a very reasonable amount of money. The best part is that these companies have a special list of requirements that most landlords have and they fulfill all of them. The chance of having an unsatisfied landlord after a cleaning expert has done the cleaning is way smaller then what it would be if you do it yourself.

Pay your bills before you leave and get a document about it

Getting all the utility bills paid before you move out will save you and your landlord time and efforts. To prove that you have done so, you'll need documents to show it.In case you have done it, it shouldn't be hard to provide your landlord with the documents and invoices he'd want to see.
