Positive Affirmations for Women

By Larry D. Holder

You've read all the self-help books: Attitude is everything! Change your perspective! Have a positive outlook! Can these ideas really change your future? And if so, how? In my childhood and adolescence, I was skeptical. Let's fact it, if my brother was born without being able to walk, how could my attitude or outlook change anything? As I got older I continued to reflect on a youth seemingly filled with disappointments and doubts. In talking to my friends and family, I realized I wasn't alone, we've all experienced them. Then, I started taking a good, long look at myself and my feelings. I realized that my deepest feelings were the ones guiding me forward, challenging me to reach to the depth of what I was able to feel - happy or sad. In the end, these feelings allowed me to explore all dimensions of my being.

Affirmation on the other hand will make those subconscious thoughts conscious because you will be aware of them. And, when you start thinking conscious positive thoughts, you will be more aware which negative thoughts are threatening to take over. This is because we create what we think. This is an interesting phenomenon because if you're not aware of your negative thoughts, it could be sabotaging for you. Ninety percent of what you are thinking about gets carried over the next day's 52,000 thoughts so if you're thinking negative, you are bound to think negative thoughts and will never get you out of your rut. And yet, since affirmation means saying something positively, your statements will assert what you want to be true and change your mind set.

You can take action right now to get the results you consciously desire in any area of your life by applying the following key points to produce effective, measurable results in your daily affirmation practices:Be persistent and be consistent. According to many surveys taken of participants of self-improvement programs, when citing a lack of success in achieving their goals, they also admitted to a lack of consistent practice. This simple key is fundamental to success - considering how many years we spend on developing, refining and polishing our beliefs and assumptions about what we can't do, is it really logical to assume that a reversal of perception is going to occur after 4 or 5 attempts? No; so please, when trying to change a habit or develop more esteem or land the perfect job, give it some time and attention. Research tells us it takes 21 - 28 days to develop a new habit, so give your goals and affirmations a minimum of 21 days before deciding on its effectiveness.

If at first your affirmations feel awkward, forced or phony - that's good! Any feelings of discomfort means that you're stepping out of your comfort zone (fear), you're creating inner change and ruffling the feathers of your ego self, who wants to keep you safe. Safety to the ego self is maintaining the status quo - no changes allowed. So please appreciate what's really happening and use it as fuel to gain momentum; you can use the feelings and thoughts about your discomfort to create a new, empowering affirmation for yourself! The discomfort will dissolve once you get into a daily rhythm and develop some confidence.Do it anyways. At the beginning of your exercises, don't worry about whether you believe your affirmations or not, the effectiveness is in the repetition. Belief in your statements will develop as a result of the repetition and meaning you give your affirmations, so choose wisely. Any resistance that you experience, including thoughts about what nonsense all this new age stuff is, are excuses to keep you safe and free from change. Resistance is also an opportunity for you to break out of the conditioned responses of the past - try being open and see the opportunity in learning something new about yourself; you may be pleasantly surprised at what you discover inside!

I am a big fan of using affirmation to effect personal change. I believe that by choosing to think positive affirmations, it will be easier for my mind to respond to something I believe to be true. Although I know how it works, I still find it astonishing that something this simple can create a dramatic effect in my life. It is nothing short of remarkable but by simply saying short sentences over and over again, you can produce positive change. But, don't let the simple technique fool you into thinking that they cannot work for you.Do affirmations work? Can you use affirmations to positively bring change in your life? Can you use affirmations for self-esteem? To understand, we have to first understand their relation to our mindset.Creating an affirmation is easy. You might be able to get a list of hundreds of thousands of affirmations around the web but very few people actually know that they are useful only if their power is synchronized with that of the positivity of the mind or else they only bring in more negative effects.

I AM Beautiful. Therefore, if I write this statement on an index card and place it in my pocket or write it several times in my notebook then say it out loud to myself, what happens? Soon I manifest beauty! I begin to believe what I have written and translate it into a feeling.

The payoff in challenging old beliefs is that we discover that it is our power of decision that liberates us from the restrictions of the past and it is our power of decision now that creates a new future to our liking. And limiting beliefs about traditional feminine roles contain great material for creating positive affirmations for women to work with in manifesting the results they desire - usually, what we desire is pretty much the opposite of the belief we want to drop, so use the old belief and reword it for the positive outcome you desire.Once we've established that certain customs and beliefs are no longer valid, we can release them and all of the influence they have on our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and consciously choose what we believe to be true for us now. Once released, we can now also give the events of the past a new meaning and choose to see any and all conditions as being for our benefit, including the added dimension of defining new roles for women in the 21st century.

Many people are curious about positive affirmations. How do you use them properly? What can they accomplish? Here are some quick tips to using positive affirmations.Structure-the wording in your affirmation should always be present tense. Affirmations should be spoken as if the statement is happening right now. If you are speaking affirmations, you should use "I am... " or "me" in your statements. If you are reading the affirmations, you should use "You are... " in the statements. If someone else is speaking affirmations to you, or you are listening to an affirmation cd, the statements should also be in "You are... " form. When you create or use an affirmation, there should be a feeling or emotion within you when you are saying it, reading it, or meditating on it. Part of the way affirmations work is through the feelings you feel on a regular basis. An easy way to attach a feeling to an affirmation can be to add: I give thanks now that... or you feel grateful now that...

Daily Affirmations.Just as the term suggests, daily affirmations are thoughts made each day. These thoughts help you to adopt more positive thought process and promote conscious thoughts that have a positive message which have the power to change your psychology and your subconscious thought processes. This daily positive thought will help you to think in a successful way.Every goal and dream that you hold dear deserves the chance to grow, and something as simple as a daily affirmative thought can shape the way that your goal or dream comes to fruition.Affirmations to Achieve Success.Positive affirmations for success work by altering the way that you view your goal. Once you start embracing the idea that you can achieve a goal, the combination of positive thinking and visualization can empower you to find ways to make your dream a reality. People who embrace positive ideas will find opportunities, seek out others with similar hopes and dreams and attract other people toward them who are likely to help them fulfill the very thing that they are affirming.

By making daily affirmations, you are likely to give the ideas you have greater consideration and thought. This means that you'll be able to formulate plans and strategies for achieving your goals. The more that something occupies your mind, and the more positive your thoughts about that thing, the easier it becomes to begin finding opportunities. You'll develop a higher level of clarity and with the focus that you have on a positive outcome, you'll start to find fresh ways to overcome hurdles that stand between you and your goal.If you're going to succeed, then you need to embrace a 'can do' attitude. Achieving goals takes energy and motivation, which is what people who reach their goals have in spades. Positive affirmations for success serve to help you adopt the right attitude for success. The more upbeat your thoughts, the greater your levels of enthusiasm will be, and the easier it becomes to see possibilities instead of hurdles standing between you and the success you desire.
