Burning the Bridges to Success

By Lanell Beckles

The lesson you will find in this article is not in the facts that I give you because quite frankly, there are very few facts. Instead, you will find a lesson about how when your back is against the wall, succeeding is all you can do. It was a powerful lesson that I learned and one that you can take with you and move you to action in your life and business.

It was the first time that I got fired. I'm now 32 years young and I've worked in many jobs. But I've never been fired. And to be very honest, it's the best thing that has ever happened to me. I wasn't shocked. I wasn't sad. I was actually relieved that I didn't have to come into another office and quit because I had done that every other time.

My intention was not to get fired, but I felt my unconscious acting out of character that day on the job. I was a dog walker and on this day, I couldn't do anything right. I lost a dog, I forgot to walk two dogs, and my phone died during correspondence with my boss. That's a disaster day.

Earlier in the week, I had made a decision to commit to my business and my dream. All my energy was going to go into my business. If I wanted to achieve the success that I expected and believed, I was going to have to work for it. And at that moment, I made a very powerful decision to just go for it.

So fast forward to the day I got fired, I am 100% sure that my subconscious ruined the day before for me, but I thank my subconscious for it.

Let me break it down why this can be an important lesson for you. Everyday we make important decisions in our life. Some can totally change the complexion of your life. When you make a decision to fight for that outcome, what will happen is your life will begin to show you the path towards that outcome. And you will have no control over how that path is laid. You only need to walk it.

So the next time you make a powerful decision that can shake the balance of your life, don't fight it. And remember, there is no plan B. There is only the plan.
