I have definitely never been a huge proponent of multilevel marketing strategies. I don't want my good friends attempting to sign me up to market stuff simply because I am definitely the most horrible salesperson on planet earth. Heck, I can hardly get anybody to permit me to present them a little something free of charge. Yeah, I'm that bad. I remember the years when I was a teen having to distribute merchandise for school and church to raise funds for trips, etc. I generally hoped my mom and dad would take up the slack given that I would have a lot of sales products left. I was way too shy to move house to house and impose on anyone by asking them to buy a product from shy guy. However, a MLM product line did eventually come my way because my son got me into a healthy weight loss program called the Advocare 24 day Challenge. However, more on that topic in a moment.
What helps someone to be a great one on one seller? I've seen them. I guess it's people with great personalities, the skill to verbally communicate well, and typically aren't worried about being rejected. Well, that's three strikes against me. Although I have been involved with a good bit of writing on the internet, my communication proficiencies appear to be more effective whenever I'm typing than the times my lips are moving & words are coming out. (And you're reading this post and thinking to yourself - "you really aren't doing so well with the words on the page either, dude)."
And what's even worse, I am a minister. And, as you probably know, if you're a minister, you really need to have a belief that you have the greatest information in the world that all people should hear. And I can put myself before of a large number of people in the church and sing a song or preach a sermon and not be the shy person. But, when I am making an one on one visit to someone that I do not know, I'm still almost like a shy little child. What's my problem with that? But that's consistently been my personality.
Okay, back to the Advocare topic. Although it's absolutely secondary to my responsibilities as a minister, I do, however, participate as an Advocare distributor. My son had sold their health and fitness supplements for quite a number of years (which really helped provide extra cash while in college), but the only thing my wife and I did about the Advocare products was use them. Of course, I was very skeptical in the beginning, but we finally tried the Advocare 24 Day Challenge. It made such an improvement in our general fitness, energy, and we shed a lot of lbs in only twenty four days. So, we were sold on the products.
So, last year my wife, Annette, and I decided that if we were going to continue using the products, then we weren't only going to receive the health advantages of those products, but also, make a little money. So that was a wise decision for us. With Advocare a person make money by selling the products and recruiting others to do so. Does Annette do better than shy dude here? Yes, actually. But that is quite alright. I think that the merits of these products are so great, even someone like me can successfully market them!
So, if you find yourself to be a shy salesperson, just make really sure that your product is really strong and works well. I'm really happy ours does.
Let's encourage folks AND make some money!
