Three Steps to Make Your Dreams into Reality

By Hal Neff

All of us have a dream - a lot of dreams actually - but few think that they could in fact attain them. Nevertheless, some individuals reach their dreams while some live lives of regret. Some are motivated and follow through, and some hold off or give up completely on their ambitions in exchange for whatever justifications they comfort themselves with.

Do you know the aspects that make that difference between the individual who achieves and the one who regrets?

Here are 3 simple steps you could make to help you live the life of your dreams:

1 . Motivation. People have their own motivations for their dreams. Consider what drives you towards your target. It might be monetary freedom, more free time, or a second property in the Caribbean. Whatever it is, remind yourself of it every day.

For example , having photographs of your dream Caribbean house hung on the refrigerator or in your office will remind you of your desire and renew your mind with motivation.

* If you go through unavoidable setbacks or frustration, a visual reminder of your dream can help motivate you to do what is necessary to return on course toward objective.

It is also essential to give yourself rewards along the way. Rewarding yourself after creating a breakthrough, such as getting a new client, mastering a new software program, or sharing a smile with your teenager, is totally necessary to effectively following through on your road to success.

Treat yourself to a nice dinner, take the day off for a game of golf, or reward yourself with anything else you enjoy. Your incentive will give you a refreshing break from the trials and hardships on the road to success and bring you new energy to continue working toward your goal.

* Giving yourself a reward here and there along the way will reinvigorate your inspiration with its good outcome.

2 . Planning. Eventhough creating a thorough plan may seem obvious if you wish to accomplish your goals, a lot of people disregard or downplay this process and then wonder why they are not moving forward toward their goal. Make sure to take the moment to prepare your way for greater achievement!

* When you have a broad plan to reaching your goal, you must fine-tune all the specifics. Put it on paper, even if it is an emotional or mental life goal, and figure out the steps essential to make that goal possible.

* Put a deadline on it. Place all excuses aside with a finite deadline for every step.

* Be realistic of your own competencies.

Creating a realistic step-by-step strategy with a deadline will bring your dream to life. Establishing definable little goals to achieve on the way to your own desired large aim will allow you to follow your plan through to success.

3. Action. Finally, no aspiration or goal can be achieved with no action. If you've developed your own plan as suggested, you will see that there are a number of small steps you have to take on a daily or irregular basis which will further you on your way to your greatest goal.

* Your small steps give you the map to your treasure. Take action to follow your map. Each step you complete brings you closer to your goal.

* Evaluate your actions and revise your map as needed. If a plan falls through, then be adaptable to change it until you find yourself back on the path to success.

Motivation, planning and action will allow you to create and live the life you've always wanted. It might take some time, but following these steps will guide you to success.
