6 Reasons to Become a Reiki Master

By Belinda H. Begay

To become a master of anything takes time, dedication and practice. The title of Master implies that we have become expert at using something and that will only come about through practice and personal investment. The traditional route to the level of reiki master is to first of all take the reiki one course and practice at that level until you know that you know all there is to know at that level and can demonstrate your ability to yourself and others.

This would include sessions of reiki self healing and a deepening of ones personal knowledge of the symbols, what they mean and how to use them. You would then progress to the Reiki Two course and approach it in the same way. And then finally you would take the Reiki Master Course. At that point you will be qualified to teach reiki to others. But on the way you will have discovered an ability within yourself, which we all have in a latent form, to heal both yourself and others. Some claim that a Reiki Master can be made in 48 hours and yes one could take the master attunement in that time period, but you will miss out on all of the vital information and practice which is in the reiki one and two courses the very foundations of Reiki.

No, you should only do Master Level if you have a serious desire to learn skills that can change both the world - and YOU!Before I go onto some of these reasons, I'd like to add that learning to attune others to Reiki doesn't necessarily mean doing so in a professional environment. One of the most important things you can do with Reiki is attune your friends and family.Of these, you might pay particular attention to your children (or even nieces, nephews and the like), because just imagine how big an impact Reiki might make to their lives if they learnt it young, if it were second nature to heal with it, if, by the time they are your age, they had already been practising with it for 15, 20, 30 or more years!Reiki ought to be taught in schools; but until it is, you need to fill the gap - a gap made bigger by the age restrictions many Reiki associations place on course participants.Learn to Better Heal Yourself and Others,A lot of Master Level courses are divided up into two parts: A and B. Part A teachesskills to enhance personal practice, part B the teaching components.Whether the course is divided or not (I, personally, teach both parts together), Master Level should supply you with skills you can practise and develop for years to come. Skills that will profoundly shift the way you experience Reiki.

It was rare to notice someone who was totally in the moment and enjoying that moment and what it had to offer.By contrast what did the small children want... to explore, have fun, watch, experience and learn. They were totally in the moment and having the full experience of that moment. There was a moment of enlightenment when in the middle of the hot sunshine, the clouds opened and a tropical rain storm began.everyone ran for cover. It was the conditioned response.

Esoteric Mantras. Not all Master Level courses teach these and, technically, they are not part of the classical system. Carefully chosen, however, these additional symbols can greatly enhance your ability to connect and amplify certain strands of Reiki energy. This can help both your ability to heal yourself and others as well as energetically clear spaces with less than perfect energy.Whole Body Reiki. A good Master Level course should teach you to go beyond what I term 'cheirocentric' Reiki (i. e. Reiki that exclusively uses the hands to heal). It should teach you to do Reiki with not just other parts of your body, but your entire body and energy field itself!

Reiki is a word derived from the Japanese language and is very popular in Japan. The word Reiki is divided and both the words mean, god's power and energy which runs life. The founder of this art was called Makao Usui. He had many disciples who learned from him and then passed on the art form to their disciples. The whole point is the master who teaches the art form to his pupils is very important and needs to be respected. The master will mould his pupils in learning this therapy method and he is one who will teach all the techniques and symbols.

When a person wishes to become a master and teach pupils the therapy method, he has to pass through rigorous levels of learning the art himself. He has to prove that he is the best in the methods and only then will he be able to qualify for the master level certification. He has to devote a lot of time for practice and also learning the new methods and symbols. The master degree or the level where a person can become a master is difficult and hence all lower levels should be conquered.

The master is the final authority and hence he needs to be proficient in the art. He needs to be a mentor, a teacher and most of all an expert in the therapy methods. He has to attune all his students the art form in such a way that they become an expert very soon. He needs to help the students practice and master the lower levels of the art and only then will he be called a master in true sense.

It's hard to be sold on a bigger and better deal when we're already living the BIG DEAL.If we love where we are at present, why move?Get the Complete Reiki Picture,The classical Japanese Reiki system is highly structured. That is, each piece builds on the one before it.The five main building blocks of the system are:The Reiki attunements,Reiki meditations,Reiki precepts,Hands-on healing,Mantras and symbols,There is only one way to see how all of these pieces fit together, and that is to do Master Level. Until then, you are, to a certain extent, living in the 'Reiki dark'. This, admittedly, is a fine place to be; but understanding the 'whole' is illuminating.

You also learn that you do not know the answers to all of people's questions / issues / medical conditions... and learn that this is OK. The need to be perfect / always right moves away, and once this happens you move to a new level of awareness and healing ability. So take a step forward on your journey to Mastery, use Reiki on yourself and others, and keep the principles of Reiki in mind at all times. If you are ever in a situation where you are not sure what to do... simply calm yourself down and ask "What would a Master do in this situation..." The answer will come.
