Achieving Wellness at Work

You know you are working for an employer that cares about you when they offer wellness packages with their benefits. This is starting to trend among a lot of employers and their employees are loving it and taking complete advantage of it. Some work places even have a set time for employees to take part in yoga. Sound pretty good right?

When looking into these packages for work, many employees will question, well what is a wellness plan? A wellness plan embodies taking care of yourself and making sure that you are healthy through a nutritious diet, exercising, reducing stress and more. These packages are great for all and show a return investment for everyone involved.

Many companies make a profit off of these packages because of how well they do. Johnson & Johnson supports these packages and offers their employees a reward to those who are overweight and lose ten percent of their body mass index with a bonus of $150. Not bad right!?

Being mindful is something that we all need to obtain. That is why many organizations are bringing back Buddhist traditions of relieving stress through meditation. We need to be able to separate ourselves from this busy world and realize that we must find enjoyment and peace through all the task we do rather than being stressed.

In order to be an effect employee or leader, one must be aware of all things and be able to make clear concise decisions. By having wellness you are able to do that rather than making decisions that you may regret later because you were under pressure and stressed out.

Mindfulness can be as simple as following your breath - breathe deeply from your belly or lower lungs and follow your breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Listening to music - any type of slow-tempo music to feel calming effects - is another easy technique. Observing your thoughts, rather than becoming involved in the moment, might be calming for you. A well-managed wellness program can have impact on employee recruitment, engagement, and retention. When employees feel that their employer cares about them as individuals, they tend to be more productive and to want stay where they are valued.
