Your Success Development - Does the Law Of Attraction Work?

By Shannon C. Raskin

There has been a lot of buzz the past couple of years about the law of attraction. A lot of books have been published about this particular topic and even Oprah gave her seal of approval. However, for those who need a primer to get your feet wet, you've come to the right place. What exactly is the law of attraction? Simply put, it is whatever you put out to the universe you'll get back. Is it that simple you may ask? The correct answer is yes. Let's take a moment and think about it.

Here is a scenario, you're on the way to work and you get a flat tire, and you've get mad and all of sudden you spill your coffee on your lap. Then you decide to throw a few colorful expletives to the universe. "This is going to be a great bleeping day!" Guess where all that negative energy is going? It's all going back to you. You're now in the zone, my friend and more negativity activity is coming your way. Your boss might yell at you because your TPS reports are wrong and make your day even worse.

Does the law of attraction mean the Universe will shower us with any amount of good things if we expect it to? Maybe, but I believe it is our attitude that helps us see the opportunities because we are looking for them. The same thing can happen to different people, such as receiving an envelope in the mail: one person will see it as a bad thing and may be frightened to open it while another will be eager see the contents as it may contain another opportunity.

It was time to go for my lectures. I was in my third year at university. I often sat with a few of my good friends in the lecture theatre. My friends were chatting excitedly when I got there. One of them had just started going out with a guy from the Economics faculty. Two others had boyfriends too. One of them asked me, "What about you Dina, have you met anybody yet?" "I don't think I will find my guy here on campus.

I call this exercise, "holding the feeling of abundance". This is a both expectation and acting as if. It may sound weird at first, but it does work. But you have to have full belief in this. That is important. Belief is so powerful. You can accomplish so much when you fully believe in something. So believe in this, and watch the magic happen.

When I got back home after work, I started preparing dinner. I was startled when my husband pulled me into his arms from behind. I turned around and kissed him. We stood there in embrace for 10 minutes."Hmmmm... ", I thought, "It's almost 11 years since I graduated. I still haven't met my Caucasian man. All my friends were happily married to Asian men. Well! There's no harm dreaming, is there? I haven't missed the boat, though. I haven't given up hopes yet."

I got off the train and walked towards the car park. As usual, my husband was waiting in the car for me. I smiled at him as I walked towards the car. He leaned towards me and kissed me. "You look tired", I said. "No, I am OK", he said. There was a big walnut and banana muffin in a little parcel on the back seat. When we got back home and I turned on the jug. We sat down on the couch and had our tea with the banana and walnut muffin. "You know, Jason, I can't believe we are doing this", I said. "Doing what?" he asked. "We having muffin and tea together. This is something I had seen in my daydreams for almost 21 years. It has really come true now." For years, I visualised being with a Caucasian man and it has become a reality now.I met Jason when I was thirty six and we got married two years later. We are parents to a beautiful baby girl now.
