Online Information And Support Resources For Addiction Pressure Release Valve

By Deanne Shepard

The consensus for most people who have undergone the trials and tribulations of addictions is that they came through because someone in their life practiced unconditional love. Perhaps this person took a view from online information and support resources for addiction and followed the helpful guidelines.

Social pressure has given rise to people who find themselves in arms of hard to eradicate compulsions. This is because most people are trying to find a way in which they can escape the sometimes harsh or even boring aspects of their lives. By feeding the feel good sensors in their brains they are able to enjoy a high that they might not get from life. Just like smoking, people who have never suffered this affliction soon start pointing fingers because they do not understand.

Regardless of what belief stance a person takes, it is not for anyone to judge the actions or intentions of others. It is said that when a person points a finger at another, they should look at the four pointing back to them. This is true because while others who are not afflicted might feel it is within their right to inflict their views, they need to first live the life of the other person. Understanding can only come from actually shouldering the pain that another feels.

When a person does not fully understand the meaning of addiction they tend to cause more destruction. They think that it is a simple thing that can be overcome because the person really willed it to be so. Because of this attitude they tend to cause more aggravation than is necessary which is not helpful. There are simply no amount of threats that can make a person switch off and return to normal. These things take time and patience with an added amount of understanding.

The plight of many addicts is that they end up in such a dire state that they lose everything including their homes. This loss of self worth often affects how they view themselves. This can be increased by the insults that they receive from those who are suppose to be their support network or loved ones. Sadly the more agitation they have to endure the more likely they are to stay in their perceived safety zone.

Noticing the outward signs and giving the person an option instead of an ultimatum often works better. This way they feel that they have a choice because they are already at their lowest. Adding more pressures through giving them threats or any such actions often leads them down the darker path.

The impulses are not so easily ignored even though the person might want to believe they are able to change in an instant. This is why some programs are based on finding a source that is sometimes outside of yourself in order to deal with the fixation. However, the brain is control and fighting this tends to be a losing battle.

Sometimes it takes more than just love to help someone out of the darkness. You need to give them candle and match sticks to light the way so that they can aim to gain some semblance of normality.
